The Center of Environmental Health

Beginning in July 2002, the Center of Environmental Health, has been operating as a public informational-consultative service in Simferopol. It was created by Crimean Republic Association "Ekologiya I Mir" in conjunction with Crimean State Medical University.

Today the Center's analytical laboratory conducts studies involving the assessment of gamma rays and beta rays, noise, illumination, radon levels, and monitoring of carbon monoxide and carbonic acid in the air, and the monitoring of various contaminants in water. Data obtained through this research has revealed the most unfavorable conditions and contamination in schools which have since become a starting point for the organization's practical actions.

The Center does information gathering and analysis on the influence of environmental factors on human health, their causes and possible solutions. We also disseminate information, host researchers, and hold consultations between specialists and employees of children institutions. In the Center a pediatrician meets with needy children and provides treatments and medical attention for the sick. Consultations for parents, for the purpose of preventing the negative influences of environmental factors on children health also take place.
