Sustainable Development in the Crimea (2006 - 2008)

Objectives of the Project

To strategic approaches of the project belong:
• support of public influence upon the process of making decisions;
• increase of informative supply and public activity;
• independent analysis of the situation;
• making decisions;
• realization of projects of the sustainable development;
• lobbying in order to accept and carry out the principles of the sustainable development;
• narrowing of bounds between the authorities and population up to self-government;
• keeping of the gender balance;
• usage of the broad experience and possibilities of the CRAEM to formulate, present and apply the approaches of the sustainable development as an integration of human rights and their practical realization.

In the course of the implementation of the project the following results are to be reached:
• four open civic centers will begin operations in order to inform, consult and support the civic activity in matters of the sustainable development;
• the Crimean inhabitants will know more about decisions planned by the authorities concerning a) the natural resources consume; b) investments (including the matters of calculation and expending of the funds); c) regional development;
• the population will be regularly informed about such important things as a) the human rights including ecological ones; b) observation of moral norms towards the human being and the environment; c) the sustainable development as the integration of the human rights and his prospects in the Crimea. The inhabitants of three local village soviets will know their civil and political rights with regard to health protection and favorable environmental conditions and will use this knowledge in order to make their life better.

The plans of the sustainable development have been worked out for three local village soviets on the basis of the inhabitants' needs and approved of by the communities and authorities. A yearly stage of the project has been fulfilled involving initiatives of the local population. In addition groups of initiative citizens responsible for the implementation of these plans have been organized.

By the year 2008 the organization of sustainable investments will be created and registered. Its main purpose will be to attract socio- and ecologic responsible investments.
